Whakapau kaha – to be better than before.

It has been great to see everyone back with so much energy to start the new school year. Children are settled in their classrooms and the learning is well underway.

Please take the time to read all the start of year messages below, as they are all very important!

Hats

A quick reminder that children need hats everyday to be able to play outside. If they do not have a hat or lose it during the day, they will need to sit outside the library (under the shade) or during the hotter days go to Rm 23, which will be used as a respite room for children to relax and cool off during lunchtimes. Please name hats as they can then be returned to their owner much quicker, thus allowing your children to have the freedom to choose where they can play.

Parent Helpers

As we begin the school year, I know many of you would like to be able to help out in the classroom, for swimming and on upcoming trips etc.  Please be aware that ALL parent helpers at our school must first complete a ‘Parent Helper’ orientation session.  If you have attended one of these in previous years there is no requirement to attend again.

We will be holding our first session tomorrow morning at 8.45am in the library and a second session will be held on Friday at the same time and place.

If you are unable to attend these times please contact the office in person or by email and we will try and arrange another session in Week 2.

Updating your details on our school APP

Now is the time to take a few minutes to update your children’s details for the year, so you are sure to receive all the important information tailored just for your child(ren)’s class and other groups they may be involved in.  Just click here to find out how to do this.

School Canteen

This is closed until Monday 10th February.  Please also note there will be NO cash sales across the counter this year.

Guest Speaker

Finally, I would like to remind you that next week on Wednesday night 12th February 2020, between 6.30 and 8.00pm we will be having a mix and mingle with staff, as well as hearing from a guest speaker John Peachey, who will be presenting a talk on . ‘Ensuring Success for Your Child at School’.  John spoke to parents last year and we received very good feedback regarding his presentation, so put it in your diary now. I look forward to seeing you there.

Kind regards
Janine
