As our children prepare to return to school tomorrow, we are asking for everyone’s support to minimise the risk associated with the coronavirus.
If you have:
– arrived back in New Zealand from China on or after 21 January,
– arrived back in New Zealand on or after 21 January, from an area of the world where the virus is now present and believe you may be at risk
– had visitors from China in close contact with you from 21 January
Your child should NOT come to school until a 14 day incubation period has passed, symptom free.
If everyone in your household is symptom free at this stage, and have not had any new contact with visitors from China within the 14 day incubation period, your child(ren) should then come to school as normal. Unfortunately, any new contact would require a further incubation period. Please use the school app to inform us if your child will not be attending.
As always anyone who is unwell should not be at school. If you have any concerns about the virus, call the Healthline at 0800 611 116 or your GP for medical advice. The Healthline has translators and interpreters available day and night in 150 languages. As this is now a notifiable disease, if staff are concerned about any child possibly having the virus you will be required to take your child to the doctor immediately.
As a further precaution we will not be having our normal powhiri on Tuesday morning and we also will be limiting the Chinese New Year celebrations to classroom activities only.
