That’s a wrap on our term 2 Shine lessons! We’ve had a wonderful term of speech and drama lessons with our students at Cornwall Park and look forward to seeing everyone back in term 3.

Many students have been busy learning poems and extracts in preparation for our Shine Achievement Awards. These will be taking place towards the end of the year and are open for all students from year 0 – 8. We encourage these as an opportunity for our students to prepare and perform in an encouraging environment. Please book your child in here.

We also have an exciting opportunity for your child to join Shine’s July School Holiday Programme. The programme will be running in both weeks of the holiday from 1-4pm at S.A.M in Remuera. For further information and to enrol please follow the link: https://www.shine.school.nz/school-holidays-1-1

Term 3 lessons will begin on Monday 29th July, week 2 of term 3. We’ll rollover term 2 bookings so our current students don’t miss out. If you don’t want to continue lessons, please let us know so we can allocate the place to a student on our waiting lists. Thank you so much.

In today’s rapidly evolving technological landscape, the importance of skills such as coding, robotics, and 3D printing cannot be overstated. As we continue to advance into the age of Artificial Intelligence (AI), these skills are becoming increasingly vital. Here’s why:

Automation and Efficiency

AI and robotics are transforming industries by automating repetitive tasks, enhancing efficiency, and minimising human error. Having a grasp of coding and robotics equips individuals to create, manage, and optimise these automated systems, making them indispensable in the modern workplace.

Innovation and Problem-Solving

Coding and 3D printing facilitate rapid prototyping and innovation. They enable creators to swiftly turn ideas into tangible products, fostering essential creativity and problem-solving skills. These capabilities are crucial in an AI-driven world where innovation is key to staying competitive.

Interdisciplinary Integration

AI frequently integrates with other technologies such as robotics and 3D printing to develop advanced systems. A solid understanding of these areas allows for a comprehensive approach to interdisciplinary projects, enhancing overall project effectiveness.

Economic Opportunities

The growth of AI is generating a high demand for professionals proficient in coding, robotics, and 3D printing. Mastery of these skills unlocks numerous career opportunities across various sectors including manufacturing, healthcare, and entertainment, ensuring economic resilience and professional growth.

Adaptability to Technological Change

The rapid pace of technological advancements in AI requires continuous learning and adaptability. Skills in coding, robotics, and 3D printing provide a robust foundation for understanding and utilising new AI technologies as they emerge, ensuring you stay ahead of the curve.

Customisation and Personalisation

3D printing offers unparalleled customisation, allowing products to be tailored to individual needs. In a world where AI is increasingly used to personalise user experiences, coding enables the development of bespoke AI algorithms suited to specific applications.

Empowerment and Education

Teaching these skills empowers individuals, including young students, to comprehend and influence the technology-driven future. It fosters a sense of agency and encourages active participation in shaping the technological landscape, ensuring that everyone has a stake in our collective progress.

In summary, the age of AI is upon us, and with it comes a world of opportunities for those equipped with the right skills. Embracing coding, robotics, and 3D printing is not just about keeping up with the times; it’s about leading the charge into a promising future.

Enrolling your child in a coding and robotics programme is more than just a holiday activity—it’s an investment in their future. These programmes not only provide them with the technical skills needed for tomorrow’s job market but also foster the development of essential soft skills that will benefit them for life. This holiday, gift your child with the joy of learning, and set them on a path to success in whichever career they choose to pursue.
