Whakapau kaha – to be better than before.

It has been a very busy time over the past few weeks trying to ensure that we are fully staffed for 2020, which is never easy, in this time of teacher shortages.  It has been further compounded by a couple of recent resignations from permanent staff.

Update on Staff Leaving:

Erin Hooper is an experienced member of our staff and has been with us for just over ten years now and during that time has made a huge contribution to the school, in a variety of roles including Team Leader, Staff Representative on the Board of Trustees and Across School Leader for our Community of Learning. Erin has been looking for a change for a few years and has decided the time is now right to relocate to Kerikeri next year.  Our loss is definitely Northland’s gain.

Marcus Collins has also decided that it is time to relocate to be closer to family and friends in Wellington.  Even though Marcus has only been with us for three years, he will be greatly missed by many staff and families.

We have been lucky to have these amazing teachers on our staff and even though we are sad to see them go, we also wish them the very best for the opportunities that no doubt lie ahead of them next year and beyond.

New Permanent Appointments:

Despite these recent announcements, I am pleased to say that staffing is currently looking positive for 2020.

Joining us next year, are some wonderful people including Vihingum Siriwardane, Vicki Brooke, Olivia Brook, Minsoo Lee and Ashleigh Evans. On behalf of all our community, I would like to extend a warm welcome to all of our new staff.

2020 is looking to be an exciting year with lots of great opportunities with the changing skill set we will have available to us.

Kind regards
Janine
