Whakapau kaha – to be better than before.
It was a glorious day at Victoria Park as the CPDS Runners lined up to run the 2km Kid’s Marathon, 5km run, or the 11km Traverse. Everybody gave it their all, and loved the opportunity to run down the offical marathon chute to cross the finish line and collect their medal – and a banana! A lot of kids ran a personal best, some just enjoyed beating their parents over the finish line, and others challenged themselves running longer distances.
Congratulations to everyone who took part, and it was great to see so many of you at the CPDS hospitality tent afterwards, enjoying the sausage sizzle. Overall, there were 772 kids who entered the Kid’s Marathon. Well done to Alyssa C who came in 109th (22nd female) and Neve McS who came in 118th (25th female). Check out the photo of Max Ws and Henry W sprinting to the finish line at the end of the 11km Traverse. Overall 4628 people entered this event, and Max came in 105th and Henry came in 106th overall. An epic run boys!
Thanks to Friends and Family, Colleen Morrow and Jane Austen for supporting the Running Club. A big, heartfelt thank you to all the Running Club volunteers who helped out on Sunday, and all throughout the year. And a big thanks to parents for bringing your kids down to run!
Thanks to Francesca Rudkin for her report above of the Marathon that some of our children took part in yesterday.
