Whakapau kaha – to be better than before.
A huge congratulations to two of our Walking School Bus (WSB) Co-ordinators, Campbell Waugh and Ursula Gee.
Campbell was a recent winner from Central Auckland, for sharing the most innovative idea to promote and ‘grow’ the walking school bus programme. He has been working hard with his WSB (walking School Bus) by mapping out how far they are waking against a map of NZ.  From the start of term, they started to map distances from Cape Reinga and are currently on their way to Nelson – across Cook Strait. It is definitely an impressive amount of walking and it just highlights how far these children are walking each day on this route. Well done.
Ursula also entered a competition during WSB Month and won tickets and movie merchandise to see the movie Tom and Jerry.  Well done Ursula.
Other news
We had ‘BigFoot’ at the school this week, taking some of our Year 5 and 6 students for some valuable ‘Bike Skills’ sessions.  The children learnt how to ride a bike using gears properly, as well as learning about the road signs when riding on the road, how to look after their bikes and checking that they are working properly, as well as having some fun, playing games on their bikes. The children had a fabulous time with some even learning to ride a bike for the first time in just two hours.
Ngā mihi
Vicki Brooke (our WSB School Coordinator)
