Whakapau kaha – to be better than before.

Dear Parents,

At last, the moment we have been waiting for!  The time when all our children can return to CPDS. Our staff is really looking forward to welcoming all our children back to school on Monday 18 May, under Level 2, and I am sure many of your children are also looking forward to seeing their teachers and friends ‘offline’, as well.

Due to the announcement made by the Prime Minister yesterday, our Level 3 children roll is now closed and even though I am aware many parents are looking to return to work this Thursday and Friday, we are unfortunately not in a position to receive any children at level 2 until Monday, as we need all this time to fully prepare staff and our school site, so that we have comprehensive procedures in place from Monday, when we return to full capacity.

Please note, that while some parents may still be concerned about their children returning at level 2, all children are expected to attend onsite, unless they have a serious underlying medical condition that places them at a higher risk, if they were to contract COVOD-19. If this applies to your child, please email me ASAP at principal@cpds.school.nz  As mentioned above we are completely committed to making our school safe for all children and staff.

Our teachers at CPDS have worked extremely hard during Lockdown Levels 4 and 3 to ensure online learning has been robust, and I am very proud of what they have achieved. However from Monday, our teachers need to change their focus from online learning to face to face learning, so therefore, on Friday 15 May, our teachers will not have an online presence, as they will be required to be onsite to prepare their classrooms and programmes, in preparation for next Monday. Our online ‘Must dos’ will therefore end this Thursday and on Friday we encourage children to complete any unfinished work or select activities from the optional activities that have been provided over the past few weeks.  If families prefer to spend some family non-learning time on Friday, that will be fine also.

Please be aware that I will be sending out more information leading up to next week, so you know what steps we have in place to keep your children safe, as well as sharing some important changes to our drop off and pick up procedures that will affect many of our families when we return.

Kind regards
Janine
