Whakapau kaha – to be better than before.

I am sure everyone of you have had a different experience with online learning in your bubble, over the past two days.  Some of you would have been frustrated with technology,  while some may be struggling to get your children to focus for more than 5 minutes on a task.

We are aware that all our families are different and some children are churning through the work, while others are struggling to get the ‘Must Do’ activities done.

Please do NOT stress if your child is not completing all the ‘Must Dos’.  It would be great, if just the reading activity is completed every day.

Just do what you can.

Remember -what works for your family works for us, and don’t forget to celebrate what your child does try to do, and also celebrate the great work you have done also, because as teachers we know first hand what it can be like.

Just know our teachers will be supportive of you and whatever your child(en) submits while online.

If your child is getting upset and they feel they have to do the ‘Must do’ activities because the teacher said so, just let the teacher know and they will reach out to them to assure them otherwise.  However, we also know some children will use a blanket ‘Do what you want’ approach, as a way to do as little as possible, when they are very capable, so I ask you, their parents who know them best, to please dip in and out of the work provided, so it works for your family situation, and we will work to support you.

If things are getting a bit overwhelming,  then I encourage you to step back, and focus more on the optional ‘hands on’ or active activities instead of the ‘Must Do’ academic tasks, or zoom grandparents etc, as staying connected is a powerful learning disposition at CPDS and everyone would benefit from saying hi!

If we are all prepared to be flexible, we will get through this together.

Kind regards
Janine
