Whakapau kaha – to be better than before.

Tēnā koutou, Nameste, Jambo, Nĭ hăo (你好), Malo e lelei,

On Tuesday night, Rimu parents and extended families were treated to a very entertaining ‘Cultural Performance’.  The children of Rimu Team did a wonderful job of presenting a number of shared songs from different cultures, in addition to each class performing a special item that this year specifically showcased either our Maori, Indian, African, Chinese, or Tongan cultures.

Our cultural diversity is a real strength of our school and I know that the performances were only one aspect of the extensive learning that has taken place in classes over the past term focusing on celebrating our cultural heritages.

I was very impressed with the way the children took control of their performances, as well as the confidence the individual presenters had when speaking infront of such a large audience.  It was also great to see some of the older Tongan children taking part in the item as well.

Special mention needs to be made to all the parents that helped along the way, either with the performance itself or by sharing your cultures with our children during the term.  I would also like to recognise the teachers who did a great job coordinating and fine-tuning the final performance.
