Whakapau kaha – to be better than before.

Congratulations to our school chess team who are continuing to succeed. In my last post I let you know that they were placed first in our local school’s cluster chess tournament and as a result earned a place in the ‘Chess Power Auckland North Regionals’.  This competition was held last week at Maungawhau School.

Once again our “A” Team (Oscar Q, Max M, Zanlin, Toby, Otis, Koko, Stephanie W, Yogya, Miqi, and Oscar G) played extremely well and I have been told that it was an exciting day right down to the last nail biting 7th game. I am very proud to say that they successfully gained second place (half a point) behind the winning school, Hillsborough Primary.  As a result of this they have now qualified for the Nationals that are to be held next term, in Christchurch.

What an exciting time for them.  What a great achievement!!!  Again thanks to Colleen Morrow for looking after this team.
