Kia ora Everyone,
My name is Kari Kautz and I have the privilege of working for a second year at Cornwall Park District School.
I am originally from a small town called Hanna in Western Canada. I have lived there for thirty years, taught for ten of them, before coming down south of the equator. I worked as a relief teacher in Australia for a short time, then came to New Zealand welcomed by the amazing whanau of Cornwall Park.
Since high school, I have found my passion for teaching children as my purpose in life. After university, I have taught in many ways as a relief teacher to tutoring children one-on-one. The experience has supported me in identifying my goal as a teacher — to learn about learning and embrace all one can learn. We are all lifelong learners! I make sure my students, and I, embrace the joys of learning in every aspect. Every lesson that is taught comes with an amazing experience learning about ourselves and our world.
I am a gamer! From sports, board games, card games, video games… I could go on. When I need a rest I meditate and exercise whether on walks or doing yoga. I enjoy reading books, and love watching animation from series to movies. If there are new experiences to try out, I am always willing to try!
