Whakapau kaha – to be better than before.

Last night, the school held the annual final for our Performing Arts Cup.  The auditions occurred a couple of weeks ago and these resulted in 11 extremely talented children, go head to head in the categories of Vocal, Dance and Instrumental.

This year, we opened each category to include groups (of up to 5 children) and for the first time we had a dance duo and a singing duet reach the finals.

Unlike past finals, this year, we moved the event to an evening, which resulted in more parents and extended family members being able to attend. In addition to this the school all provided a wonderful audience for the dress rehearsal for our finalists on Tuesday.

It was an extremely strong field across all categories and no one envied the job of the judges; Markie Mark (NZ Hip Hop Champion) Alison Laxon (Music Teacher, on sabbatical from Victoria Ave School) and our very own Marcus Collins. Well done to all our competitors and congratulations to our winners of each section.
