Whakapau kaha – to be better than before.

This week, our children have been totally engaged in all things ‘mathematical’.  There have been lots of Maths challenges taking place as well as mathematical art and problem solving galore. On Tuesday this week, a group of our senior students went to Maungawhau school to take part in an outdoor maths trail.  The students were mixed together into groups of 4 and had fun together solving problems outside of the classroom.

Then on Wednesday, we also had a group of Y5 and 6 Mathematicians visit our school from Maungawhau School. For over an hour, the 60 students worked together in mixed-school groups, bringing their problem solving skills to bear on a range of different types of mathematical challenges.  A huge thank you to Erin Hooper, Adele Hatton and Carmen Burns for building the enthusiasm and ensuring teachers had plenty of resources to support them throughout the week.
