Whakapau kaha – to be better than before.

Image result for school starts

I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow. An extra special welcome to all our new children and their families starting with us tomorrow.

School Starts: Tomorrow- Tuesday 29 January

Reminder:

First bell – 8.30am – all students are welcome to enter the classroom

Second bell – 8.55am – all students should be in class and ready to have the roll taken

Any late students who arrive after 8.55am need go to the school office for a late slip – no exceptions

Powhiri:

A Powhiri (welcome) will be held in our school hall tomorrow at 9.15am.  This will take about 30 minutes and is then followed by morning tea in the Discovery Centre.  You are all welcome to join us.

Stationery:

Please try to ensure that your child has their stationery pack for tomorrow.

Respite Room:

As the temperature looks like it may be spiking upwards at the moment, we will be opening a respite room (with air conditioning) that children can go to during their lunch break to cool down on hot days.

SunSmart/Swimming:

It is compulsory in Term 1 to wear a school hat, so please ensure that your child has a hat tomorrow and that it is clearly named. If you child does not have a hat they will need to go to the covered hall entrance area during breaks, or the respite room (if open). Sun screen is available in all classes, however, you may like to apply sunscreen to your child prior to arriving at school as well.

Swimming will be a focus for Term 1 for all classes, as it is a compulsory part of the Physical Education programme. All students will need to have togs and a towel in a bag ready for their lessons each week.  Your teacher will advise you what day your child’s class will be attending. If you would like to help your teacher with swimming please have a chat to her/him.

School Fair reminder – 7 April

We are very proud of the school ‘Fair’ that is held every year, as it provides lots of extra opportunities and facilities for our students.  We are of course again looking for as many helpers as we can get this year. Your child(ren)’s teacher is currently collecting names of parents who are willing to pitch in and give us a hand. Remember that more hands make lighter work. We need to know early each year, what we can achieve according to the number of people willing to help. So if unsure, please do not hesitate to have a discussion with your child’s teacher or pop into the office for more information.

Working together, I know 2019 will be a great year!

Kind regards

Janine
