Whakapau kaha – to be better than before.
Viv Quan has been part of our staff at Cornwall Park for many years, in different capacities.  She has been a full time teacher, part time teacher and a day to day reliever.  She has also helped us out on a number of occasions filling a position until a new staff member could start.  Therefore, I had no hesitation when Viv asked me if I could send this message out to our families, in the name of a good cause.
On Friday the 23rd of March at Henderson Primary School, Viv Quan, along with her friend is going to have her head shaved (to a number one) to raise money for Shave for a Cure , as her friend Jayne is a teacher there.
Having lost her own dad to cancer in 2016 and with own brother receiving a cancer diagnosis later that same year, Viv has been inspired to take on this challenge. (Thankfully, her brother underwent surgery and radiotherapy in 2017 and is now well).

Your donation goes to Leukaemia and Blood Cancer New Zealand. They support those who are diagnosed with blood cancers, fund research and provide information. Viv’s hair will also be donated to Freedom Wigs, a NZ company who make wigs for those recovering from chemotherapy or who have other conditions.
It seems to be becoming more rare to have lives untouched by the incidence of cancer. You also may have experienced loss due to cancer, or you may know or be a cancer survivor. If you would like to support Viv in this personal and ‘brave’ gesture you can make a monetary donation,  to the office for “Miss Quan’s Shave for a Cure” OR tap on the link below to donate directly (you will receive a receipt -and even better you can claim a tax rebate with if you donate directly). You are also welcome to go along to witness the actual event. A time in the afternoon will be confirmed closer to the day.
Many thanks for your support!
Vivian Quan
