Whakapau kaha – to be better than before.

Yesterday, we had a group of Y6 budding writers (Tony C, Julian L, Henry W, Spencer G, Maskil M and Connor S) represent our school at the ACCOS (Auckland Central Community of  Schools) ‘2018 Writers’ Festival’ held at Remuera Primary School.

This day long event provided many opportunities for selected students from Years 3-10 in our cluster to come together to develop their writing confidence and skills in a supportive and creative setting.

A highlight of the day was a two hour workshop led by Allan Trussell-Cullen, a renowned NZ children’s author, where the boys created and demonstrated their poetry machine using drama, sound and art.  Our boys were selected to share their work first and Spencer’s poem was read. We are very proud of the boys and how well they represented our school.

The purpose of ACCOS is to share knowledge and opportunities for learning between our cluster schools and this day was an excellent example of how we can work together to benefit our students.  Thank you also to Adele Hatton and Lisa Rolle for supporting our students during this event.
