Whakapau kaha – to be better than before.

Last week we ran our Y6 speech competition.  The finalists had a range of topics and the content of the speeches was very impressive, as was the delivery.  The winner of the competition was Jifei S, who delivered her speech on ‘Being Time Wise’.  Congratulations also to Victoria P and Tessa B, who were placed second and third respectively.  Jifei will now go onto represent us at the zone Speech Competitions coming up later this term. I would like to thank Erica McKenzie-Browne for organising this and also I would like to thank our invited judges Helen Jandu from One Tree Hill College and Jaclyn Druitt from Espom Girls for their adjudication of this competition.

This week we also ran our inaugural Mandarin Speech Competition. We had a good sized group of entrants and the competition was again of a high standard.  I am proud to announce that Jifei also won this competition.  I would also like to thank our invited guest judge Veronica Zane for adjudicating this event and Lisa Rolle for introducing this new event into our school calendar and for then organising it.  Jifei will now also represent our school at the upcoming zones ‘Mandarin Speech’ competition.  We are very proud of your double achievement Jifei , as winning these two different competitions really highlights the calibre of your speeches.
