Celebrating Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori
This week, the school has been practicing our Te Reo, including our greetings as well as a daily schoolwide Karakia and sharing a Whakatauki (proverb) daily. Ngā mihi nui, to Whaea Chloe, Olivia and Raupo for promoting this language week throughout our school.
COVID-19 Check-in and Masks
On Monday, the Government will decide if Auckland will move out of Level 2.5 on Wednesday 11.59pm. Regardless of the decision, we will still continue to use our check-in system on our ‘School App’ until the end of the term, next Friday.
As we are following Ministry of Education guidelines through this pandemic, please remember that the school has no authority to compel the wearing of face masks, nor would we stop those who wish to wear one while at school, as we respect the personal choice of each family and individual in this matter.
Camps
Earlier in the week, Rooms 17 and 21 were at camp and we are expecting Room 28 back tomorrow. Then next week, Rooms 20 and 27 are off until Wednesday and Room 15 will be the final class attending Wednesday to Friday. A huge thank you to all the parents who have been so supportive of these camps, as well as all the helpers who have transported children and/or stayed at camp to help. Finally, a special thank you to the class teachers who also made it possible.
Dance
Last year we had the ‘Dance Curriculum’ group come into the school to take some intro lessons with our children. After the feedback we received, we decided to invite them back into the school to work with all our children. This was booked for earlier in the year but did not eventuate due to the initial lockdown. We have now rescheduled this for Week 4 and 5 next term, and we are hoping that this will also provide all our children the opportunity to perform for parents, hopefully face to face if possible (depending on levels) or virtual as a last resort. Early in Term 4, there will be a request for a donation to cover the cost of this, along with a more detailed outline of the amount of sessions the children will receive.
Upcoming Teacher Only Days
Our next Teacher Only Day is due to take place on Tuesday 27 October. As you will be aware that we had to postpone our last Teacher Only Day as it unfortunately fell into our last lockdown. We have now rescheduled that for 16 December, which means that the last day of school for children will now be on Tuesday 15 December, instead of the Wednesday 16 December.
Administration and Sickbay
Due to the refurbishment of the school office and sickbay, these have now been relocated to Room 18 (opposite the library) until building work is completed.
Ngā mihi nui
