Children are required by the Education Act to attend school whenever it is open unless there is a good reason for being absent.
Parents are requested to contact the school office before 9.00am to let the school know if their child is going to be absent or unexpectedly late, and the reason why. Contact can be made by either telephoning 524-6574 and selecting the absence line or by emailing email@example.com
If a child fails to arrive and the school has no knowledge of a reason for absence, we will endeavour to contact caregivers on the home or emergency number to ensure the child’s safety. If the absence is known in advance please advise the class teacher and office in writing.
NB: NO STUDENT IS PERMITTED TO LEAVE THE SCHOOL GROUNDS AT ANY TIME DURING THE DAY, WITHOUT THE PRIOR KNOWLEDGE OF A TEACHER OR THE SCHOOL OFFICE. A CAREGIVER IS REQUIRED TO SIGN THE CHILD OUT AT THE SCHOOL OFFICE AND ACCOMPANY THE CHILD LEAVING THE SCHOOL DURING SCHOOL TIME. THIS INCLUDES COLLECTING A SICK CHILD OR TAKING A CHILD TO AN APPOINTMENT.
Pupils Leaving the School Temporarily
It is essential that if your child is going to be absent from school for an extended period (eg :an overseas trip) that the caregiver send a letter of explanation to the school office and the class teacher, noting the last day of attendance and date of return before the leave is taken. It is a Ministry requirement that any child absent from school without written confirmation of a return date must be removed from the school roll after 21 days.
