Kia ora e te whanau,
Thanks to Dawn and Janine’s proposal last year I was given the opportunity to step into the role of Cornwall Park School’s new music teacher. Ngā mihi mō tēnei angitu e kōrua!
Teaching music is a first for me, after graduating as a teacher in 2009. At this stage you don’t get too many “first times” in your job, so I am enjoying having to meet this new challenge. My whanau is quite musical so growing up I would find myself in many different musical environments that fostered my love for music.
I am very excited to be joining the staff at Cornwall Park School, this was the primary school that I went to during a time where the students believe was before electricity. My mother also spent the majority of her teaching career in these very classrooms carving out a legacy that left behind boots, so big that my size 14’s could never hope to fill. I’ll finish up with leaving a whakatauki (proverb) behind:
Ma te kite ka mohio, Ma te kite ka mohio, Ma te kite ka marama
