Whakapau kaha – to be better than before.

The CPDS Family Fun Fiesta is just a little more than two weeks away!

Thank you so much for all the support we have had so far. We had an amazing turnout for our Fun Jars on Tuesday morning, the storeroom is now full of exciting looking jars. These are going to be a huge hit on the day. Make sure you get there early so you don’t miss out! We will continue collecting these in the office, so please bring in more if you wish. House points are always up for grabs.

The Kids Committee have had two productive lunchtimes making Lolly Necklaces, these kids have worked so hard and deserve a huge thanks. We also have centenary crafts in the library, which will all be part of the decoration on the day. There is a buzz of anticipation around the school!

As the Fiesta is our modern day take on an old-time school carnival, we will be running activities across the day for children (and adults) to be involved in. This will include sack races, egg and spoon races, donut eating, and of course the Wheels Parade! Next week we will release the schedule for the day, which runs from 10am – 2pm. Clear your calendar, as you are going to want to be there for the whole day.

For those who aren’t wanting to take their chances on the egg and spoon race, there will be plenty of other entertainment for you to enjoy. Entertainment, cake stall, quick fire raffles, and FOOD!

We have confirmed a number of food trucks and stalls that will be available across the day. You’re going to want to come hungry!

Food trucks include coffee vans, sushi and double dutch fries. We have an amazing number of volunteers who are running our own food stalls, including a sausage sizzle (very traditional!), bacon butties, dumplings (which are always super popular) and pasta.

Of course it wouldn’t be an old time carnival without the traditional shaved ice, candy floss, ice creams and other drinks!

We will be running our traditional cake and sweets stall at the Fiesta. Cakes, slices, muffins, cupcakes will all be available to purchase – either to eat at the Fiesta or to fill your lunchboxes for the week!

As we do with the school fair, we will be sending out cake boxes (one per family) in advance. These will come home on Thursday 1 April. We would be very grateful if you could fill that box with yummy cake, muffin, slice, or cupcake goodies and bring it back as a contribution to this sale (instructions will be attached). We will also very gratefully accept any contributions to the sweets stall! Homemade fudge and coconut ice are always very popular.

Suggested recipes are available at the office or on the school website if you’re looking for inspiration.

  • Please remember, we will happily continue to receive Fun Jars, so bring them into the office if you have them! And don’t forget to start planning your entry for the Wheels Parade.
  • As always, please get in touch with us if you have any items to donate for the auction / quick-fire raffles (,
  • If you haven’t already, it’s still not too late to fill in the following form if you’re able to help for a couple of hours on the day. Please click here to get in touch!

We have been so overwhelmed by the support we have received so far for the Fiesta. We want to thank each and every one of you – we are working through our lists of helpers, but please if you haven’t yet heard from us, drop us an email and we will follow up with you.

Thanks from
The Fiesta Committee
