Whakapau kaha – to be better than before.

We are on countdown to our Family Fun Fiesta – as part of the CPDS Centenary celebrations.

The Fiesta is a take on the old-time carnival that CPDS used to hold… with some modern twists of course! There are plenty of ways you can get involved, and we would love you to come with all the family on the big day.

The ‘Bring a bag of lollies day is one to get all the children excited! Instead of a gold coin donation, we ask that children instead bring a packet of wrapped sweets or lollies. These will be made into the ever-popular lolly necklaces! Any type of sweet or candy is fine, but it must be wrapped. (here are some samples of popular lollies. Please also check the use by dates).

Children can wear their house T-shirts on Tuesday and for every bag of lollies donated, a house token will be awarded.  The House Captains will be outside the office on Tuesday morning to collect the lollies and award the tokens.

The winning house will have 15 minutes extra playtime on the day.

Our first ‘Kids Committee’ will be held at lunchtime on Thursday, 18th March (location Room 2). This is an opportunity for children to be involved in some of the organisations for the day – all children are welcome (numbers will be capped if it proves too popular!). This first lunchtime we will be making lolly necklaces.

As part of the fundraising effort, we will be selling ‘Fun Jars’. These are a recycled jar or a container (eg: jam jar) which children fill with ‘treasures’ from home, and contribute for sale at the Fiesta. We would love your children to fill a jar and bring it to school! What counts as ‘treasure’ is up to you! The jars could be filled with stationery, painted rocks, marbles, balloons, bubble mixture, sweets, stickers, beads, small cars etc. Filled jars can be delivered to the office from this week onwards. Please be extra vigilant to ensure that jars are well cleaned before filling.

In the early days of CPDS a carnival was not complete without some good healthy competition. We want you to come and join the fun! Three-legged races, egg and spoon (eggs modified for allergy and wastage reasons), sack races etc. These will be happening across the day – everyone is welcome to compete and glory is at stake! A race schedule will be available the week before the big day.

Another two events that have been noted in the archives that we hope to repeat this year is eating Donuts on a string with no hands and a wheel’s parade.   Previously the boys decorated their bikes and the girls decorated their prams.  But this year you can choose what wheels you would like to decorate and we look forward to seeing you in the parade to end the fiesta.  More information will come.

We are still collecting auction/raffle items… Thank you to those who have contributed so far! Please email us if you or someone you know has any auction items they would like to donate –

We are thrilled to thank our Family Fun Fiesta sponsors! Barfoot & Thompson (Epsom and Greenlane), Pak n Save Royal Oak and new sponsors this year Greenlane Medical Specialists. Please support our sponsors if you can.

The organising committee are always grateful for any help you can give. If you have any spare time over the coming few weeks, please click here to get in touch!
