Whakapau kaha – to be better than before.

2021 is the centennial year for our school and throughout the year we have a number of different activities planned from learning in class through to a fun day for families as well as a more formal Centennial weekend later in the year.

As the school was officially opened on the 9th of February 1921, we want to get our children enthused and curious about this important event in our school’s history.  Therefore, at 2.30pm next Tuesday (9th February) we are going to cut a ceremonial ribbon signifying the start of this special year. We will also be lifting the time capsule from the 75th Jubilee, as well as giving every child a mini cupcake (at no cost) to celebrate our 100 year milestone.

All parents who would like to join us for this are most welcome to join us on the field. Please note that this event is targeted towards the children, so we will not be having formal speeches (as these will be more appropriate at the centennial weekend).

In order to be able to give every child a cupcake we need some willing volunteers who are able to come and help make some batches of mini cupcakes, this Friday in the Discovery Centre. We mainly need manpower, as all baking ingredients will be provided. It would also assist us if we were able to borrow some cake named mixers/ blenders, 12 or 24 mini cupcake tins, for Friday, as well.

As we need to ensure we identify children with food allergies so we can try and source an alternative if required, we need all parents to fill out the following form ASAP, as this event is happening so close to the start of school.

Kind regards

Janine
