2020 SCHOOL DONATION and OTHER CHARGES
Even though the year has started with some unexpected challenges presented by the Coronavirus, 2020, our children are settled and focused on learning. 2020 is definitely set to be another exciting year for our school.
This Year’s Initiative
This year, the school is moving to an online programme called HERO that will eventually provide you with a window into your child(ren)’s learning to view their progress and achievement in real time. To ensure it is a successful experience for all, including teachers, students and parents, we will be rolling this out to parents in sections, gradually over the year. When totally embedded by the start of 2021 this will be a one stop shop online for blogging, finances, enrolments and communication. We are confident that this will result in streamlining current processes, making it easier for you as parents to manage and to stay engaged with your children’s school life. We will keep you informed of our progress with this, as we move through the year.
As is the norm for each year, we have reviewed the previous year’s expenses before finalising the suggested 2020 donation. In 2020, your donation will again be used to provide extra support for children who require it, boost funding for library books and IT, as well as helping us fund teachers over and above what the government provides. In addition to this donation there are some other expenses that will need to be considered as we progress through the school year. Please refer to the paragraph below – Trips, camps and activities.
As you can see your donation is important to our school and we have tried to set a fair and realistic amount. Therefore, our suggested annual school donation for this year will be kept at the previous years amount of $440 per student (for the third year running) if received by March 31st 2020 for people wishing to claim a tax rebate on donations in this financial year or $450 if paid after this date.
As in previous years, it is appreciated if you pay the full amount of the donation at your earliest convenience through your Kindo account. Tax receipts will automatically be sent by email. However, if you wish instead to make more part payments, either on an ad-hoc basis or term by term, these can also be made through your Kindo account. However, if you would prefer to pay by automatic weekly/fortnightly or monthly instalments please contact Leigh in the office ( firstname.lastname@example.org ) and she will happily discuss this with you.
Trips, camps and activities
Legally we are unable to enforce payment from parents to cover the costs of special activities like class trips/ camps, even though the school does not receive enough money from the government through public funding to cover the costs associated with these events. We therefore, have no choice but to seek contributions from participating families. To date, we have not needed to cancel any event, so thank you all, for your continued support of extra activities that enhance your children’s learning.
Some activities offered by our school are above the normal curriculum delivered and therefore a fee is charged, which is payable before a child takes part. These include, but may not be limited to, Sports Teams playing out of school hours such as Netball and Flippaball, Instrumental Lessons and Inter-School Technology Challenges. These charges are not tax deductible.
