Exciting news! We have entered even more groups this year into the Lewis Eady Junior Music Contest. The contest takes place on Saturday 21st  September 2019 at Ponsonby Primary School, 44 Curran Street, Herne Bay. Our groups are competing in the afternoon session, please see below for further details. 

GROUPS PERFORMING ARE: CPDS ORCHESTRA, ROCK BAND, STRING ENSEMBLE, CHAMBER GROUP, MUSIC EXTENSION GROUPS

 

DATE: SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 21st 2019

VENUE: PONSONBY PRIMARY SCHOOL HALL – 44 CURRAN ST, HERNE BAY, AUCKLAND. Hall is open from 1.00pm Located next to the field & courts. Coffee and snacks available for purchase on site.

WARM UP ROOMS – Open from 12.45pm Please tune instruments & warm up prior to the session start time

SESSION TIME: 1.30pm. FINISH TIME APPROX 3.30pm.

 

On the day, students and parents will meet here at CPDS school at 11:50 am. before heading to Ponsonby Primary. Students will return to school for pick up at 4.00pm. Students are to arrive neatly dressed in their school uniform with their instruments and music. We will require cars to transport the students and their instruments to and from the venue.

Please complete the electronic form above giving your child permission to attend the contest and confirm their availability and permission to travel by car/van. If you are able to help with transport please also indicate this on the electronic form and answer the related questions. Forms need to be submitted by Monday 16th September.

 

CPDS School pick up/drop off parking: Use CPDS School Parking by the CPDS hall.

Venue Parking: Please park on Curran Street & side streets. NO PARKING IN PONSONBY SCHOOL GROUNDS.

Please note: All vehicles used to transport children must be registered, insured and have a current warrant of fitness.  Caregivers transporting children must have a current, clean New Zealand driver’s licence. Children should not be transported in either a front or rear seat where an airbag device is designed to inflate from a frontal position. Children may travel in diagonal seatbelts only.

N.B. There has been a change to this programme – the ‘White-Fronted Terns’ group is now performing in the afternoon immediately after Piwakaka, as item no. 214B

THE LEWIS EADY JUNIOR MUSIC CONTEST (LEJMC) is open to all primary and intermediate school children. The contest is a performance opportunity for children at all levels of musical achievement, which aims to encourage young musicians to perform and to gain valuable experience and increase confidence. Deserving performances will be acknowledged with Gold, Silver or Bronze certificates. The contest adjudicators also provide encouraging constructive written comments for all performances.
