Whakapau kaha – to be better than before.

Kia Ora,

I am pleased to join the CPDS community this year. I have received such a warm welcome from staff, children and parents. I was born in South Africa before immigrating to New Zealand and have taught overall for 24 years from Year 0 – Post Grad level. I have a supportive family, my husband Paul and our three girls Simone, Camille and Leah. Quality time with family is very important to me, so I spend most weekends hanging out with my wonderful family.  When I need to relax I watch Netflix, shop or hang out with friends.

I believe that every child’s talent can be developed through a Growth Mindset. Dedication, hard work, good strategies and input from others will help our children value the process of learning rather than just the end result.  I also believe that it is important for learners to have a personal sense of agency by developing a student voice and a culture of learning.

I am excited and honoured to start this new year with the CPDS team.

What is the most important thing in the world?
He tangata, he tangata, he tangata
It is the people, it is the people, it is the people
