Whakapau kaha – to be better than before.

Kia Ora Whanau, My name is Dev Singh and I was born in Malaysia. Coming from a multicultural background, I am fortunate to be able to speak Malay, Punjabi, Hindi and Indonesian besides English. I have been teaching for more than 20 years in Malaysia and New Zealand. This is my second year teaching in CPDS. I am excited to be a 21st Century teacher and learner as this era offers possibilities that are endless for our students. I am also a firm believer of Growth Mindset by Carol Dweck, a Stanford University psychologist. This idea believes that most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work- brains and talent are just the starting point. This view creates a love of learning and a resilience that is essential for great accomplishments. Our children are our taonga. It is my hope that working collaboratively and cooperatively with the CPDS whanau, we will be able to support our 21st Century learners (taonga) to take their place in the world.
