Whakapau kaha – to be better than before.

What a lovely sunny day to start Term 4.  I am so pleased to be back after what has been a really interesting and refreshing sabbatical.  I would like to thank Shanthan Naidu for his acting role and Dawn Wood for the support provided in this, ensuring our school was well managed in my absence.

I would especially like to welcome all our new children and families who attended our welcoming Powhiri this morning.  Room 22 is now underway with our new group of New Entrants under the skillful guidance of Lucille Wiltshire and Vicki Hartstonge.  We are so pleased they have both agreed to return to us again this year to take up our Term 4 class.   Welcome also to our graduate teachers, Coutney Smallwood Rm 12, Jessica Ahearn 2, Avalon Hermans 15, and Monica Sudheko 8.  We look forward to having them at our school for the next 5 weeks.

I look forward over the next week to visit each class and catch up on what children have been doing while I have been away.  Term 4 is another busy term, especially as it is only 9 weeks long and we have so many exciting end of year events coming up, especially for the Year 6 children who will be leaving us at the end of Term 4.

I know Flag Day is important for many of our Year 6 families and soon I will be providing an outline of the process, in a future ‘Blog’, that we take in determining allocation of these awards, so you can have a better understanding of what happens each year.

Tomorrow, I will be sending out a student placement form for you to feedback any information that you believe would assist us in placing your child for next year.  If you have already contacted us by email, there is no need to repeat this request again, unless you wish to.

Looking forward to catching up with many of you over the next couple of days.

All the best

Janine
