Whakapau kaha – to be better than before.

The Fair Committee had it’s first meeting on Wednesday night and as usual there are very focused people determined to make the ‘2018 Fair’ another huge success.  This success relies on the school getting as many families involved as possible, as the old adage ‘many hands make light work’ is so relevant in this context.

Early last year we nearly didn’t have a fair due to our uncertainty that people would step up and help.  However, in the end the school raised a huge amount of money that has allowed the school to create a multi-purpose space under Room 27 (that is currently under construction as we speak). This space will benefit all children during their time here, allowing for break out spaces for music/ GATE/ specialist support and so many other opportunities that I can’t list them all. In recent years the fair proceeds have allowed us to outfit the Discovery Centre, create our Cultural Garden and build our Parkour playground.  This year, we are focusing on applying the finishing touches to the multi-purpose project mentioned above, as well as planning for our next project.  We will be looking to gather some ideas from our community, around what future projects may look like during the upcoming PTA Family picnic and via our webpage.  Remember, we are only limited by our imaginations and the buy-in of our community.

We are starting our Fair led up by having our first Mufti Day next Friday 16th February.  Instead of the normal coin contribution, we ask that children bring along new items to ‘kick start’ our basket and quick fire raffle stalls. This may be beauty products, tinned or bottled food, sauces etc or small home decor items that would fit well in a nice gift basket.

We ask that you check to ensure no food items sent have reached or are past their best by dates until after ‘Fair time’-being Sunday 8 April 2018.
