The Kids Marathon can be an 8 week, 10 week or 12 week training programme that enables all kids age 7 – 13 to complete a full marathon (42.2 kilometres) by running between approximately 3-5 kilometres per week depending on the training programme.
The programme is completed in grand fashion as each child is able to finish the final 2.2 kilometres of the marathon distance in front of thousands of cheering fans, friends and family through the finish line of the ASB Auckland Marathon on 29 October 2017.
Entrants between 7 – 9 years may be accompanied by one adult on course. Children aged 10 – 13 years are required to run on their own.
RACE DATE: Sunday 29th October 2017
START TIME: 11am Kids Marathon.
FINISH LINE: Victoria Park, Fanshawe Street, Auckland
How to Enter:
- Go to www.aucklandmarathon.co.nz
- Hover the curser over the Auckland Marathon logo top left and then hit ‘Enter Now’
- Register for the Kids Marathon – go through normal registration process, but when it comes to the ‘Team Information’ section, select ‘Join a Team’.
- Scroll through options until you come to Cornwall Park District School Runners. Click on this (to highlight it).
- You are asked for a password – this is cornwallparkrunners
- Scroll down and complete registration – payment $24.00.
The Kids Marathon starts on Beaumont Street at the corner of Madden Street. The course travels down Beaumont Street, continuing onto Hamer Street and around the Tank Farm onto Brigham Street. The course takes a left turn into Jellicoe Street, right into Halsey Street and a final right turn into Fanshawe St to the finish line.

Price: General entries cost $24.00* per child *Price includes GST, less 8% Active fee. Entry fee includes:
- Race Number
- Timing device
- Gearbag & Gearbagtag
- Medical support/assistance (hopefully not required).
ATHLETES CHECK IN: As a group (over 20 kids) we qualify for bulk bib packing and collection – which means 1 person can pick up the Bibs for the whole group which should make life easier pre event.
5KM Option – for kids and parents.
For regular runners looking for a new challenge, children can also enter the 5km challenge. Please note, all participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult for the entire duration of the event and the accompanying adult takes full responsibility for the safety of the entrant under 16. And there is no medal for completing this race! Entry process is the same. Walkers are welcome to enter in the 5km Challenge.

Course: The Heart Foundation 5km Challenge takes in Westhaven Marina, the Tank Farm and Viaduct Harbour before turning onto Fanshawe Street for a finish at Victoria Park. The course is best described as flat.
