28 August 2017
On Friday 1st September 2017, Totara Team have been given the opportunity to take part in a technology workshop hosted by the organiser of the EPro8 Challenge Events which are run across New Zealand. This year once again we are hosting the competitive event for Year 5 and 6 students, and as a result of this, we have been able to secure two workshop sessions for our Year 3/4 Totara Team classes.
The sessions will be run as a mini competition with teams working together to complete a challenge. The challenge could include a range of the following:
- building large sized structures
- solving practical problems
- engineering using pulleys, motors, gears, wheels and axles
- Inventing a machine that can complete simple tasks
- undertaking unusual and fun experiments.
- constructing basic electronic circuits.
- solving interesting problems using practical maths
These workshops will be taking place on the Friday afternoon in the CPDS hall, however we ask for a donation of $11.00 to cover the cost of this. We understand that payment can not be enforced, however, please appreciate that the event is dependent on contributions being received. Therefore, we will decide on 30th August 2017 as to whether the event can proceed or not. If cancelled, contributions will be refunded or held over until the next activity.
Our preferred method of payment is via the internet into the school’s bank account: 12 3021 0240840 04. Please include your child’s name and room number in the reference sections. Alternatively Eftpos or cash payments can be made at the office.
Please note due to the nature of this event, we will not be requiring parent assistance this time.
